Parenting in a Digital World
For information on raising children in a digital world. This page covers everything from differentiating between different types of screen time to deciding on how much is too much, using social media, and every thing in between! There is something here for parents of children from all age groups.
We were so fortunate to have hosted Dr. Devorah Heitner a couple years ago. Dr. Heitner is an expert on Parenting our Digital Natives. Please visit her site to find out more. If you'd like to read her book, St. Francis owns several copies of it for lending to our parents. Please contact Mrs. Filbin to have a copy sent home with your child.

Using Parental Controls
"I would like to set up Parental Controls on my child's device at home...how do I do this?"
Parental Controls should be used to teach boundaries and instill responsibility in your child, with the intended outcome being independence once they are developmentally ready to use the device in a way that is safe and appropriate to their age group.
Different kinds of devices have varying degrees of "parental controls", with some devices offering more in-depth controls than others.
Please visit the below links for information appropriate to your device.
Chromebook
Please note that if your child has a family-owned Chromebook for their use at home, they can log in to that device with their school Gmail account information. Some of our account settings will be duplicated at home upon sign-in. However, internet monitoring/filtering is up to the parent and home wi-fi. Please contact your internet provider to understand the options available to you.

With the availability of graphic content on Netflix, this is a feature you may want to consider enabling.
